Gamble Brothers Band signs with Archer Records;
new album scheduled for release this summer

MEMPHIS, Tenn., May 8, 2003 – Memphis music's soul heritage has found a rebirth at the independent label, Archer Records.

Two very soulful talents, rhythm and jazz singer, Kelley Hurt, and the modern southern soul band, the Gamble Brothers Band, have signed to the label, according to Ward Archer, president.

“What we’re trying to do is identify and develop great music," said Archer. "I think these artists represent that."

The sessions for both projects are being recorded at Archer Records, Ardent Studios, and Phillips Recording and are being scheduled for release this summer.

Kelley Hurt and Gamble Brothers Band recordings are being produced by Memphis producer, songwriter and keyboardist, Ross Rice.

The Gamble Brothers Band has experienced growing momentum since the band was formed in 2001. Last year the band was awarded a grant from the Jim Beam Bourbon B.E.A.M. program. The band is a featured act at this year's Beale Street Music Festival and this summer they have been invited to the Lincoln Center in New York to play its annual Out of Doors Festival.

The group's line up includes lead singer and keyboardist Al Gamble, drummer and vocalist Chad Gamble, tenor saxophonist and vocalist Art Edmaiston, and bassist/vocalist Will Lowrimore.

All are accomplished musicians and are especially adept at their style of modern southern soul and funk.

"These were real musicians doing real music," Archer said of the recordings. "The project was recorded mostly live and the result is a raw and exciting sound."

Other Archer Records Artists include Classical guitarist Lily Afshar and folk & blues singer Sid Selvidge.
